What ingredients can i put in my salad?

salads are often seen as the healthy choice, but what actually goes into them can vary dramatically. If you're starting to get bored of your usual lettuce, cucumber and tomato salad, why not start exploring different ingredients you can add to your salads to add a bit of variety and interest to your meal. Here are some tasty ingredients you can add to your salads that provide exciting flavours and benefits:

1. Grains - Adding grains such as quinoa, cous cous or rice is an easy way to bulk out a salad while adding some extra flavour. Plus, these grains are packed with fibre, vitamins and minerals, making them an excellent addition to any balanced diet.

2. Legumes - Beans like chickpeas or lentils give salads a hearty texture while providing valuable proteins and other essential nutrients like iron and zinc. You can buy canned legumes which are ready-to-eat or easily cooked up in batches when you're meal prepping for lunches throughout the week.

3. Nuts & Seeds - Nuts and seeds are a great way to add crunchiness as well as healthy fats, proteins and important minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Examples include pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts or cashews!

4. Fruits & Veggies - In terms of vegetables other than lettuce, be sure to add in lots of bright colours from vegetables such as spinach & kale (packed with iron), peppers (good source of Vitamin C), red onions for their anti-inflammatory properties or for extra sweetness try adding mangos or pomegranates!

5. Herbs & Spices - At the end of it all don't forget about herbs and spices! You may have heard it before but adding herbs like mint or coriander not only makes your salad look more vibrant but also adds impressive aroma that will bring life into any dull plate of food! Adding spices such as paprika is also great for providing additional flavour kick as well as providing antioxidants that help protect us against diseases too!
